WHITNEY HOLLAND
PRESIDENT
Whitney Holland graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in special education and Elementary Education in June of 2012 and moved from the Pacific Northwest to New Mexico exactly two weeks later.

Prior to being elected as the president of the American Federation of Teachers- New Mexico, Whitney taught third grade in Los Alamos where she also received her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy from New Mexico Highlands University. During that time, she also served as president of her local- the Los Alamos Federation of School Employees.
Whitney left the classroom in July of 2021 to do full time union work but still takes every possible opportunity to talk about elementary education and how to support New Mexico educators, parents, and communities.
